National Impact Scale

Contributing to Tanzania's National Clean Cooking Strategy with programs reaching 500,000+ lives. Leading multiple large-scale projects in sustainable charcoal, eCooking, and mini-grid development.

Key Achievement: One of Tanzania's largest sustainable energy NGOs with nationwide reach.

2020

Regional Partnerships

Strengthened regional collaboration through the East African Civil Society for Sustainable Energy & Climate Action (EASE&CA) project.

Key Achievement: Active partnerships in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

2018

eCooking Revolution Begins

Pioneered electric cooking solutions with the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) project, introducing efficient electric pressure cookers to Tanzanian households.

Key Achievement: First organization to scale eCooking in Tanzania, achieving 85% energy cost savings.

2015

Policy Advocacy Success

Contributed to the development of Tanzania's Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) Action Agenda and National Energy Policy.

Key Achievement: Recognized as a key stakeholder in national energy policy development.

2010

National Clean Cooking Initiative

Launched comprehensive programs promoting improved cookstoves and sustainable charcoal production, becoming a key player in Tanzania's clean cooking sector.

Key Achievement: Over 100,000 households reached with clean cooking solutions.

2005

Solar Energy Expansion

Expanded programs to include solar home systems and solar institutions, bringing electricity to off-grid communities.

Key Achievement: Installed solar systems in 50+ schools and health centers.

2000

INFORSE Regional Coordinator

TaTEDO became the East Africa regional coordinator for INFORSE (International Network for Sustainable Energy), expanding our influence and partnerships across the region.

Key Achievement: Recognized as a leading voice for sustainable energy in East Africa.

1995

Improved Cookstoves Program

Launched our first major initiative to promote improved cookstoves across rural Tanzania, reducing fuel consumption and indoor air pollution.

Key Achievement: Distributed 5,000+ improved cookstoves to households in 10 regions.

1990

Foundation of TaTEDO

Tanzania Traditional Energy Development and Environment Organization was established to address the country's pressing energy and environmental challenges. The organization was founded with a mission to promote sustainable energy solutions and environmental conservation through community-based approaches.

Key Achievement: Established as Tanzania's first NGO focused exclusively on sustainable energy development.
