Expanding local capacity in research, studies and consultancy for sustainable energy technology and services improvement and adoption in Tanzania has been one of functional 
areas of TaTEDO. TaTEDO’s focus is to increase attention on sustainable energy sources like solar, wind, biomass, small hydro, etc. Active research work on the development and harnessing of energy from renewable sources is going on throughout the country. Realizing the need for energy related research activities, and our institution greater emphasis on energy related research, TaTEDO has focus attention on the various aspects of energy research activities. The research activities areorganized around a range of themes and key areas which are biomass, solar, small hydro and wind. Already some research activities related to sustainable energy have been undertakenwith different partners such as NORPLAN of Norway, GAMOS of UK and WRI of USA.
