TaTEDO SESO significantly impacted the 48th International Trade Fair (Sabasaba) held at the Mwl—Julius Kambarage Nyerere Exhibition Grounds in Dar es Salaam. The organization’s booth attracted many visitors, including citizens and stakeholders.
TaTEDO SESO's commitment aligns with the Tanzanian government’s National Clean Cooking Strategy (2024-2034), championed by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. The strategy aims to promote clean cooking solutions, reduce environmental impact, and improve livelihoods. Visitors to the booth were educated about the benefits of electric pressure cookers, specifically the SESCOM Electric Pressure Cooker (JULEP).
Key highlights include:
- Environmental Conservation: The SESCOM electric pressure cooker was showcased as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional cooking methods. By using electricity, it significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to a cleaner environment.
- Cost Savings: Visitors learned how the SESCOM Electric pressure cooker can lower household expenses by utilizing affordable electric cooking. Reduced reliance on expensive fuels like charcoal or kerosene translates to cost savings for families.
- Health and Safety: TaTEDO SESO emphasized the health benefits of clean cooking. By avoiding the use of traditional stoves that emit harmful smoke, families can protect their health and prevent respiratory illnesses.
- Climate Resilience: The organization highlighted how adopting electric pressure cookers contributes to climate change mitigation. By reducing reliance on biomass fuels, Tanzania can play its part in global efforts to combat climate change.
In addition to the promotion of clean cooking, TaTEDO SESO enlightened visitors who came to the pavilion about environmental conservation through the Integrated Sustainable Forest Conservation and Charcoal Value Chain Improvement Project (ISU-CHAVPRO). This initiative empowers communities to manage forests sustainably and enhance the value chain for charcoal production.
Distinguished guests who visited the TaTEDO SESO booth included former President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete and Eng. Innocent G. Luoga, Commissioner of Energy & Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy. Both leaders praised the quality and efficiency of the SESCOM Electric Pressure Cooker, emphasizing its potential to transform cooking practices across Tanzania.
The booth also featured collaborations with Sustainable Energy Services Company (SESCOM), Sustainable Energy Enterprise Company (SEECO), and Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO).
Sabasaba 2024, themed “Tanzania: The Right Place for Business and Investment,” continues to showcase innovations, foster partnerships, and drive economic growth in the region. TaTEDO SESO’s active participation underscores its commitment to sustainable energy solutions and improved livelihoods for all Tanzanians.
