British High Commissioner Marianne Young Visits TaTEDO SESO to Explore the Clean Cooking Energy Project

In a significant step toward promoting sustainable clean energy solutions, the British High Commissioner to Tanzania, Marianne Young, visited the TaTEDO SESO offices on 30/09/2024. Her visit aimed to gain firsthand insights into the current clean cooking energy project a collaboration between TaTEDO SESO and the UK Government.
During her visit, High Commissioner Young had a meeting with the project management team and experienced a demonstration of clean cooking where she actively participated in a practical demonstration of electric cooking at the TaTEDO SESO office. She rolled up her sleeves and cooked a traditional Tanzanian staple food ugali using SESCOM's innovative electric pressure cooker. The results were very impressive: delicious, well-cooked food prepared swiftly and efficiently. The Electric pressure cookers showcased its ability to provide nutritious meals while minimizing energy consumption and costs.
The British Ambassador Hon.Young also observed the preparation of other local dishes, including pilau and makande, all using the same electric pressure cooker. Her positive feedback highlighted the cooker’s versatility and its potential impact on households across Tanzania.
The Hon Ambassador Young commended TaTEDO SESO for their tireless efforts in educating communities in relation to the benefits of clean cooking energy solutions. By promoting electric pressure cookers and other sustainable energy solutions, TaTEDO SESO is contributing to a healthier environment, improved livelihoods, and reduced reliance on traditional, less efficient cooking methods.
Hon Young emphasized aligning these initiatives with Tanzania’s broader vision of clean cooking for all by 2034. To ensure that every Tanzanian household has access to clean cooking energy. TaTEDO SESO’s efforts are critical steps toward achieving this nationally ambitious target by 2034.
As the visit concluded, Hon Young expressed her views about the future impact of clean cooking energy solutions. She reaffirmed that the UK Government is committed to supporting clean cooking projects and encouraged further collaboration between Tanzania and the United Kingdom in advancing sustainable energy development in Tanzania.
