National Launching Event in Tanzania

1.0 Introduction

The East Africa local sustainable solutions catalogue is a collection/database of local climate and sustainable energy solutions applied in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. The solutions included in the catalogue address challenges related to energy for cooking, lighting, water availability, transport, food availability and preservation.  The catalogue is composed of 45 cases available online http://localsolutions.inforse.org/ and process to make it available offline and in prints is going on. Existence of this catalogue is a result of joint efforts made by EASE-CA project partners.

On 11th December 2020 during 5th Paris Agreement Anniversary this catalogue was launched at international level. Now the plan is to launch this catalogue at national level with the aim to popularize it at country level.

2.0 National launching Event

Launching in Tanzania is planned to happen on 5th February 2021 at the TaTEDO office. Proposed participants of the event is 25 people 10 student volunteers from University of Dar es Salaam pursuing Mass communication course, 10 CSOs - members of the coalition and 5 TaTEDO staff.Catalogue for Local Sustainable Solutions for East Africa

The launching event will involve printing of 30 T-shirts which will be worn by participants during launching event.

There will be presentation of the catalogue to the participants followed by display and demonstration of some of the sustainable energy technologies and services which are included in the catalogue.

Live demonstrations of some of the technologies including baking using efficient charcoal baking oven, use of EPC for cooking, use of solar drier for preservation of agricultural produces, production of briquettes and its use will be conducted as indicated in the programme.

The event will be shared through TaTEDO social media including Facebook and twitter and local newspaper.
